Andrea Geraghty is a shareholder in the firm where she
concentrates her practice in all facets of real property law,
both transactional and litigation, representing clients in
matters including land acquisition and development,
conveyance and title issues, financing, leasing, condominium
creation, documentation and management, eminent domain, real
property taxation, landlord/tenant, titles and boundaries,
land development, zoning and land use, building codes, design
and construction, environmental issues and general business
matters.
Andrea, who received her J.D., cum laude, from Duquesne
University School of Law in 1983, and her B.A. from Indiana
University of Pennsylvania in 1974, has been named by the
General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Joint
State Government Commission, to the Commission’s
Advisory Committee on Real Property Law. Ms. Geraghty has
been identified, since 1997, in Marquis’ Who’s
Who in America, Who’s Who in American Law, and
Who’s Who in American Women. Andrea has been honored by
her peers who, since 2001, have identified her as one of the
Best Lawyers in Pittsburgh in Real Estate Law to the editors
of Best Lawyers in America. In December 2004, Ms. Geraghty
was honored by Community Options, Inc. at its 10th
Anniversary Gala for her service in support of equal rights
for the disabled.
Ms. Geraghty is as a member of the American, Pennsylvania
and Allegheny County Bar Associations, the Women’s Bar
Association of Western Pennsylvania and Commercial Real
Estate Women in Pittsburgh. She currently serves as the
lawyer Co-Chair of the Lawyer-Realtor Committee, a joint
committee of the ACBA and the Realtors Association of
Metropolitan Pittsburgh. She is a past chair of both the PBA
Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section and the ACBA Real
Property Section. Ms. Geraghty is a frequent lecturer for the
Pennsylvania Bar Institute, the Allegheny County Bar, the
Pennsylvania Bar and the Realtors Association, on a variety
of real property issues. Andrea has served on the Board of
Directors of the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the Board of
Governors of the Duquesne University School of Law Alumni
Association.
June Swanson joined the firm in 2003 after serving as
Senior Vice President and a Manager of the Risk Management
Consulting Group of Marsh Inc., an international insurance
broker. Since returning to private practice in 2002, Ms.
Swanson has focused on commercial, real estate and risk
management issues facing small businesses and non-profit
corporations and estate planning and administration for
individuals. Prior to joining Johnson & Higgins (an
insurance brokerage company later purchased by Marsh) as
in-house counsel and senior consultant in 1992, June
practiced in the Corporate Section of a major local firm. She
has a broad commercial background having counseled clients in
commercial real estate leasing and acquisitions, contract
negotiation, corporate governance, entity formation and
operation, tax-exempt financing and related transactions.
Admitted to practice in Pennsylvania, June is a member of the
Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar Associations, and the
Women’s Bar Association of Western Pennsylvania. June
also serves on the Executive Council of the ACBA’s
Women in the Law Division. June received her B.A. from
Allegheny College and her J.D. from Duquesne University
School of Law in 1984.
An active participant in community and charitable affairs,
June is a 1994 graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh, a
leadership training program sponsored by the Greater
Pittsburgh Chamber of Commerce. June is a 2003 appointee of
Allegheny County Executive Jim Roddey to the Board of
Directors of Allegheny HealthChoices, a public/private
partnership managing the delivery of behavioral health
service to Medicaid patients, where she currently serves as
Vice President. As a Board Member of the I Have a Dream
Foundation of Pittsburgh, June was instrumental in raising
over $200,000 to help fund post-secondary education for a
group of disadvantaged young people from the Garfield area of
the city.
Frank Kosir, Jr. is an associate with experience in all of
the firm’s practice areas. He is a 1998 honors graduate
of Washington and Jefferson College, with degrees in Business
Administration and Political Science, and a 2001 graduate of
the Duquesne University School of Law. Prior to entering the
practice of law, Frank acquired extensive experience in real
estate development, sales, construction and leasing with his
family’s home construction company, which has operated
for more than fifty years. Frank’s first hand knowledge
of the construction and business aspects of real estate
provide him with a unique perspective in addressing real
estate related issues.
Frank is a member of the Pennsylvania, Allegheny County, and
Washington County Bar Associations, and is currently a member
of the Executive Council of the Allegheny County Bar
Association’s Real Property Section, as well as the
Board of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Real
Property Probate and Trust Law Section. Frank has been a
frequent lecturer at continuing legal education programs
sponsored by the Pennsylvania Bar Institute and the
Washington County Bar Association. Frank resides in Peters
Township, Washington County.
Edward Preston recently joined the firm as an associate,
bringing a record of strong academic achievement and several
years of professional Information Technology experience.
While in law school, Ed worked as a law clerk for Geraghty +
Associates and for the Pennsylvania Commission on Sentencing
and as a Research Assistant for Professor Joseph Sabino
Mistick at Duquesne Law School. Prior to joining Geraghty +
Associates as an attorney, Ed completed a Judicial Internship
with Judge John A. Zottola, with the Court of Common Pleas of
Allegheny County.
Ed attended the University of Pittsburgh and received degrees
in Computer Information Science and History and a certificate
in Historic Preservation. While an undergraduate at Pitt, Ed
was President of Alpha Phi Omega, a co-educational service
fraternity, and a founding member of Pitt’s Collegiate
Eagle Scout Association. Prior to attending law school, Ed
worked for several years in the Information Technology field
for a medical research group within Pittsburgh’s
largest hospital system. While attending the Duquesne
University School of Law, Ed served as a staff writer for
JURIS magazine, Duquesne’s award winning student legal
news magazine. He graduated in 2009, cum laude, and is a
member of the Pennsylvania and Allegheny County Bar
Associations.
Pat Murphy joined Geraghty + Associates as counsel in
2006, bringing to the firm over 20 years of experience in all
types of commercial litigation. After starting his career in
private practice, Pat took an in-house position with a large
national developer handling litigation as well as contract,
leasing and construction issues for malls, office buildings,
sports arenas and a number of other facilities. In 1992, he
returned to private practice in Pittsburgh, continuing to
represent developers, school districts, small businesses and
individuals in commercial and land use matters. His
experience extends to state and Federal courts.
Pat is a 1970 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh
with a degree in social service, where he also earned a
masters degree in counseling in 1975. He graduated for
Duquesne University School of Law in 1983. He is a member of
the Allegheny County Bar Association.
Mr. Hollinshead is a highly respected senior practitioner
in Pennsylvania real property and estate law practice. He was
a founding partner in Hollinshead and Mendelson, and
practiced there from its formation in 1973 until his
retirement in 1998, when he became Of Counsel to Geraghty
& Associates. Mr. Hollinshead served as general counsel
to the largest saving and loan in western Pennsylvania for
more than 27 years, and is known for his expertise in all
matters of real estate and title law.
Earl Hollinshead is a member of the Pennsylvania and
Allegheny County Bar Associations and was elected to the
prestigious American College of Real Estate Lawyers in 1982.
In each edition since its inception, Mr. Hollinshead has been
identified as one of the Best Lawyers in Pittsburgh in Real
Estate Law in the Best Lawyers in America. He is a 1948
graduate of Ohio State University, and, in 1951, was awarded
his L.L.B. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law,
where he was a member of Phi Alpha Delta.
Over his career, Earl Hollinshead has served in many
leadership roles in the Allegheny County and Pennsylvania Bar
Associations, including as chair of the ACBA Real Property
Section, and of the PBA Real Property Division of the Real
Property, Probate and Trust Law Section.
